Gandhi - National Day Event Sponsor

Posted by Kirsty on August, 6, 2014

We were big fan of Gandhi Indian Bistro back in the days when we were still living in New York City. Whenever we visited Las Vegas, we made it a point to go to Gandhi, located on Paradise Road.

Not only do I love the decor, I love the fast and friendly service and of course, the delicious Aloo Gobi and Chicken Vindaloo, yum!!!!

We are lucky that Gandhi Indian Bistro set aside their VIP room on Sunday, August 10th for us to have our National Day Event there. and not just that, Gandhi is also sponsoring a $20 gift certificate to their restaurant as one of our prizes for the lucky draw. Thank you Gandhi!

Snack Smart @ Love with Food

Posted by Kirsty on July 29, 2014

Guess who is our next sponsor for SAN National Day Event 2014? Yes, non other than SAN's founder Ai Hui Ong! I joined SAN just 3 years ago and have not met Ai Hui in person, but since I took over the job as president last August, Ai Hui has been kind and generous with her encouragement for the work I've done for the club.

When I was planning for SAN National Day Event this year, I approached Ai Hui and her company Love with Food for support, she replied my email in the speed you wouldn't believe and generously sponsored our members with the fabulous snack boxes LOVE WITH FOOD!

When the goodies arrived at my door, I nearly ripped it open with my teeth.... (hey, who has time to find scissors).

Oh boy.... this pretty little box is packed with stuff, yummy good stuff......

I tried a few and the next thing I did was to run upstairs to my computer and subscribed to LOVE WITH FOOD, now I just need to sit at home and this little box packed with organic or all-natural snacks will arrive at my door monthly.

Every family that attends our National Day Event will bring home one LOVE with FOOD snack box to try. Thank you Ai Hui!

Hey, if you want to snack - SNACK SMART@LOVE with FOOD.

Stop by LOVE with FOOD and check them out, every box you get, you are donating a meal to feed a hungry child in the U.S.

Asian Home Gourmet

Posted by Kirsty on July 18, 2014

There is a reason we see Asian Home Gourmet products in almost all of the Asian supermarkets here in America - they are AMAZING!!!!!

For those Prima fans out there, I suggest you give Asian Home Gourmet Singapore Laksa a try. I bought myself a pack and tried it immediately when I get home from 168 Market.  The Laksa has an awesome aromatic smell and you can definitely get your laksa fix in this little packet.  It is downright hearty stuff!

Asian Home Gourmet is one of our kind sponsors for SAN Singapore National Day event 2014.

Besides Singapore Laksa and Singapore Chicken Rice, Asian Home Gourmet also has other cuisines such as Indian Butter Chicken (Makhini sauce mix), Madras Chicken Curry, Thai Green Curry, etc.

Oh, did I mention their price is very reasonable too? You can find lots of great recipes at Asian Home Gourmet's website. Or you can follow Asian Home Gourmet's Facebook page to get the latest updates.

Simple Pleasure in Life......Me and my Kopi!

Posted by Kirsty on March 1, 2014

Three weeks before our CNY dinner party, I drove to CA to picked up the delicious door gift Khong Guansponsored for SAN Chinese New Year dinner event. Mr Albert Lin, Executive Vice President of Khong Guan Corporation, throw in a few surprises for me!

Not only I brought home Khong Guan Happy Biscuit Assortment for everyone to enjoy, I also brought home Owl brand white coffee tarik and milk tea..... what a nice surprise, thanks Albert!

It didn't take me too long, the next morning.....

Ahhhh..... simple pleasure in life.....me and my kopi!
Do you know that Khong Guan is the exclusive agent for Owl Brand coffee and milk tea?
The White Coffee Tarik is my new favorite hot beverages now.

The word "Tarik" derives from the action of "pulling" the coffee-repeatedly pouring the beverages from a height in order to mix and froth it.

I like that it is not too sweet, perfect for our Singaporean taste.

Owl brand 3-in-1 Milk tea is my other favorite. Each convenient one-serving sachet contains tea, sugar, and creamer, now you can enjoy delicious milk tea anywhere, anytime!

Don't forget to enjoy your white coffee tarik or milk tea with some really really NICE Khong Guan biscuits!

THANK YOU Khong Guan!

Check out Owl's website and facebook page.

Satay Thai Bistro and Bar

Posted by Kirsty on January 27, 2014

As you already know, this year we are celebrating Chinese New Year at Satay Thai Bistro and Bar, located at 3900 Paradise Road, Satay Thai Bistro and Bar originated as a Malaysian restaurant, now they served flavors of Southeast Asia from Thai, Indonesian and many great taste we Singaporean are familiar with.

The decor is classy, the prices are reasonable. We were promptly seated and served by their friendly staff. I had Nasi Lemak and my husband tried Thai Pineapple Rice on our first trip there, they were both very authentic.

When we went back for the second time, we had beef horfun and garlic eggplant, they are delicious beyond words, I still drool and crave for the horfun whenever I saw the photo.

I worked with Janie when we decided to have a change of venue this year for Chinese New Year dinner, she is such a sweet lady to worked with. Before I even go into details, I asked Janie if she would sponsor our dinner event with a gift certificate, Janie didn't take one second and YES is the answer. So lucky people, you are not just going to enjoy your 9-course dinner at Satay Thai Bistro this coming Saturday (February 1, 2014), you will also get a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to enjoy more great food! Thanks Janie!!!!

A Must Have Delicay to Chinese New Year!

Posted by Kirsty on January 12, 2014

Food is a celebration. My earliest memory of Bak Kwa was certainly associated with Chinese New Year. That prosperity tray on the coffee table always had my favorite bites - Bak Kwa, our version of Pig Candies!

Despite the fact that it is available all year round, this dried barbecued sweet pork is one of the foods that never fails to command escalating prices as well as long queues at various stalls in the Chinatown district in Singapore when Chinese New Year comes around.

The good news is, now you don't have to cry over that 5 KG of Bak Kwa that was confiscated by airport custom during your last attempt to smuggle it in from Singapore, thanks to Little Red Dot!

I love my bak kwa to have a balance of smokiness and sweetness, a little charred exterior but still tender and juicy. Little Red Dot Bak Kwa scored a full mark for this.

And look at that packaging.....

So as you can imagine I was in heaven when it arrives at my door....

Little Red Dot Bak Kwa does not use food coloring, sodium nitrates, MSG, nor high fructose syrup. They hand select each ingredient with care and craft this delicacy in small batches to ensure tip top quality. My Bak Kwa shipped well and they shipped it fast with the offer of free shipping for orders over $39. Hurry, pop over to their website and get yours!

SAN is very fortunate to have Little Red Dot sponsoring their beautifully packed Bak Kwa for our Chinese New Year dinner raffle prizes, THANK YOU Little Red Dot!

I can't wait til Chinese New Year, I want my Little Red Dot Bak Kwa now, how about you?

Childhood Nostalgia - Ageless Khong Guan

Posted by Kirsty on January 2, 2014

Remember these......

and these.....

and these.....???

Yum.... Khong Guan Biscuits!!!!

I'll remember these yummy treats for as long as I live. During my early childhood days at Newton Kindergarden, the aunty who worked in the kitchen would bring 2 pieces of Sor Da Bia (cream crackers) placed on a pink, or blue, or red tiny plastic plate during snack time, those were the days.....

At home, it is always Sor Da Bia (cream crackers) dipped in hot Milo! Double yum!!
Till today, I still have a tin at home at all times, my children are in their teens and early 20s, spent most of their childhood in the United States and they love Khong Guan cream crackers the same way I did growing up, some things just never change.....

Something like Khong Guan, simply ageless......

Besides cream crackers and lemon puff, my children also love the fancy gems, they are like little icing flowers on top of tiny biscuits, fun and delicious at the same time.

Still remember National Day Parade season in Singapore? The goody bags always come with yummy treats fromKhong Guan, Khong Guan is truly a trusted brand to all Singaporeans.

Khong Guan's generosity is not just limited to Singapore, they are very supportive of Singaporeans living overseas, and we are fortunate to have Khong Guan supporting our small community. They generously sponsored 6 cases of their New Year gift packs to all attendees at our Chinese New Year Dinner Event.

Thank you Khong Guan!

SAN likes Khong Guan Biscuits, come join us too!
