Our Founding Father

March 23rd, 2015

A sad day for all Singaporean

Since February, when Mr. Lee was admitted to SGH, we have been keeping close watch on the news, twitter feed and other form of social media, deep down inside, I hope he could hang in there until Singapore celebrate our big 50 in August, but........we learn the sad news yesterday (3/22/15 Vegas time) around 3 PM, much earlier than my sister in Singapore got the news, that we have lost our founding father Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

I can't tell you how sad I am, as you all know, I am a big fan - HE IS MY IDOL!
My children grew up listening to me preaching about how great our country is because of one man. Despite spending most of their life in the United States, my children are all Singapore citizens. We all have a better life because of him. Thank you Father Lee!

Singapore Community Day 2015

The first ever Singapore Community Day in the SF Bay Area was co-orgainized by Singapore Connect and the Overseas Singapore Unit.

The event on February 28, 2015 was held at Saratoga Springs Picnic and Campground, St Jose.

It was really one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
Ok, I admit, I am a sucker for running stream......

I am so delighted to see so many Singaporean in one place.....

lining up for food of course.....

What do you expect? When Newton Circus and Lau Pa Sat were all there....

Chicken Rice, Satay, Mee Goreng, Beef Rendang, Ang Ku Kueh, Teh Tarak...... you name it, they have it!

The adults were busy eating while the kids were learning how to play kampong games we used to played when we were little.....

remember? kuti kuti?

Chapteh and Five Stones?

Randy and I both had fun at the Photo booth....

apparently, this was our first!

The photo gallery at "Marina Bay" had photos reminded me of HOME!

Six of my photos sent in prior to the event were on display too, ummm...... see something familiar?

As seen on You Tube .....

shots taken by THIS drone

Consul-General Mr. Christopher Cheang opening the event

and then we all doodled on the SG 50 banner

notes were written and will be send HOME to Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew

just a few photos before we leave....

with Consul-General Christopher Cheang...

OSU Director Wong Kan Foo

and a selfie with Stanley of course.....

we are leaving Saratoga Springs with this ringing in my head....

Sama-sama maju ke hadapan
Pandai cari pelajaran
Jaga diri dalam kesihatan
Serta sopan-santun
dengan kawan-kawan

don't ask me why, they played tons of Singapore songs on Singapore Community Day, I just can't get this one out of my head.

Both our flights to St Jose airport and back to Vegas were easy, cheap and pleasant on a Saturday....

it was a wonderful, memorable day at Saratoga Springs after all!

Chinese New Year Dinner 2015

Hi, I am back! I know I have a major hiatus! Things wasn't going so smooth with planning the Chinese New Year dinner this year, but...... sigh! I survived!

And I think......
What good is it for me to be dwelling and crying.......
thinking this is totally unjust, unfair and unreasonable.

Well, I learn......
It is important that I learn to let go, put my energy on what's truly important, and continue to do what I have been doing.

Despite nearly 100% of the blog post on our old website was done by me, I was blocked from the weebly site and no longer able to update anything, so THIS and THIS will be the new place for keeping you guys updated.

First of all, I would like to thank all of you, who attended our Chinese New Year dinner on Saturday 21, 2015. Your support meant a great deal to me! THANK YOU!!!!

A group of 30 started the evening with Lou Yu Sheng 捞鱼生, also known as Lo Hei  捞起 (The Prosperity Toss), is a Teochew style raw fish salad.

Best dress award goes to.....

Rosie of course, she always came in her best......

Oranges for good luck, please take one....

It was a great evening after all.... thank you once again for being there!
